December 30, 2009

Dear friends,

I want to take this opportunity to wish you a very prosperous 2010 and to especially thank you for supporting the ministry of New Life Community Church here in Louisa, VA.  I am reminded that through the faithful giving of supporters like you, we are allowed to practice what God had called us to do back in 2002.  Through the difficult financial downfalls, God has used you to help us meet some very practical and spiritual goals in 2009.  Year to date, we have baptized over 40+ people and we have seen numerous others come to faith in Jesus Christ.  My friends, God is still on the throne!  Our ASCEND Discipleship hour on Sunday morning has seen record attendance in 2009 and through the leadership of Trey Singleton in 2010, we are expecting great things to happen in Discipleship.

This Thanksgiving we were able to feed the community of Epworth Manor and provide them with a  warm holiday meal in the name of Jesus.  We praise God for this opportunity to minister in our own town of Louisa.

Our Ladies Ministry continues to be a vital part of ministering to women at our church.

Our Creative Arts Ministry has provided us with excellent productions that share the gospel.  One,  being the most recent “Christmas Hangups” that incorporated many children who worked hard each night to share the love of Jesus Christ.  In addition, we saw some 600 people attend our Easter Production at Easter.  This year, we wanted to make a “BIG DEAL” out of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  After all, isn’t this the foundation of our faith?  God has put together an amazing team at our church here in Louisa.  I am amazed at the talent that God has brought to this small town.  Looking back, we are all united under the Word of God!  God’s Word is what has brought us all together and for that I am grateful.

One of the most exciting things that we are praying for is our additional campus in Gordonsville, VA meeting on Sunday nights at 6 pm, at the old Gordonsville Christian Church.  We have been averaging 45-65 in attendance and God has shown up each time we have met.  Our focus at this point is prayer and ministry of the Word on Sunday nights.  Eventually, we plan to conduct Sunday morning services and invite the whole community to come see what God is up to.  In 2010, we want to see this campus, reaching this town for Christ!  Pray for Pastor John Nichols as he leads the campus on Sunday nights.  He has been leading us through the book of Nehemiah and God has richly blessed these messages.  We have seen new people come each week and now our plans are to follow up with them and invite them back.  We are praying for other towns that God would open the door for us to go into.  Our strategy in this spiritual warfare is to continue advancing the gospel into enemy territory.  We are grateful that God has given us this strategic outpost in the middle of town to conduct operations!

This year, we sent 9 people from our church into Nicaragua for ministry.  God has revealed to us that Nicaragua will be a Global outreach for our ministry here in Louisa.  This July, we have plans to send over 30 people into Nicaragua to conduct various aspects of ministry including:  medical, building, feeding and evangelism.  Below you will see a picture of Pastor John preaching in a PUBLIC SCHOOL in Nicaragua.  Try to do this here and see what happens!  The need is great and more people are needed to bring hope to this nation.  God has really given our people a heart for missions in 3 geographic locations:  locally, regionally, and globally.

The Point Church of Charlottesville, VA led by my brother Gabe has been doing an amazing job in this community.  Currently meeting at Monticello High School, God has given them favor in so many areas of ministry.  One practical thing that they did recently was have a coffee house in the local Fashion Square Mall in Charlottesville.  During the busiest time of the year, they were able to secure a spot in the mall to hand out free coffee in Jesus Name!  We are excited to have played a part in helping this church get off the ground.  Their future is bright and if you are ever in the Charlottesville area check them out at 10 am at Monticello High School.  Pray for this church plant as they continue to do outreach and push back the darkness in this community.

In case you're wondering, this New Year's Eve, we will have a hymn and prayer service beginning at 6 pm and running until 8 pm at the church.  IN addition, the youth will be going a step further and having a lock-in beginning at 9 pm and running until 7 am.  Permission forms will be provided that night.

Our prayers are with you in the next year.  Thanks again for your continued support and your prayers.
