Dear friends,
Well we had an amazing Sunday with 411 present with us as we kicked off our “One Month to Live” campaign. This Sunday we are trusting God for even more people to take the challenge with us and for this whole community to be changed for the glory of God. I mean after all, when you personally answer the question, “What if I only had one month to live”, then your life will be changed and re-prioritized. This week as Stacey and I were walking through the community inviting folks to come, God opened some amazing doors and brought us to the exact door steps of people who needed to be encouraged. Before we left, we posed this same question and people began to think about the reality of death. This past week, we over viewed the remaining 5 weeks together: Jesus Loved Passionately, Jesus Loved Completely, Jesus Learned Humbly, and Jesus Left Boldly! This week, we will go deeper with Passion in our lives. God wants us to live passionately and love Him passionately. Sometimes I believe that we are passionate about things that don't really matter and passive with the things that do matter. Let us commit the next six weeks to live passionately in all that we do! More importantly, if you believe that this question is a serious question to answer, invite a friend out this Sunday to come with you and ponder it. What if you don't invite anyone, then they won't come. If you had one month to live, would you invite someone this Sunday to come and go through this series with you? I want to invite you to also check out my blog site at www.jamminjosh.blogspot.com . Let me know your thoughts and what is happening in your life. I plan on spending time on there at least once a week and I would enjoy to hear your thoughts online.
We had such an amazing response this past Sunday in our ASCEND discipleship groups that we have decided to add an extra class at the last minute. Consider this email I got from Trey Singleton just yesterday:
“hey everybody, i have great news. because of the popularity of the one month to live challenge, we have had to rebirth another class. starting this Sunday, chris mcknight will be facilitating a class in the sanctuary. (this is what ascend discipleship is about) let’s rally around chris and encourage him as he steps out of the comfort zone and steps out in faith. wow, that sounds like some one month to live lessons right there! lol if you would like to encourage chris and move to his class for the next 5 weeks that is ok. we are re birthing a class because of the response we have had to the challenges.”
So in response to the great job you guys have been doing in inviting people, we are adding an additional class led by Chris Mcknight (www.hikingwithcroc.com ). I encourage you to check out his blog and come to his class this Sunday at 9:45 am. For those of you who don’t know, Chris went with us to Nicaragua and God has changed his life completely. You will enjoy this class tremendously!
Please make welcome to the New Life Family, these three wonderful families: The Shaw Family, the Irving Family and the McKnight Family. We welcome you to our family and we pray that our church will be a blessing to you!

Ok this weekend there are some exciting things happening with the church we are planting in Charlottesville, VA! Please make some time available this weekend to come on out and check out what God is doing. I received an email from Gabe Turner, the lead pastor and here are the happenings in Charlottesville this weekend:
Wow! What a big week ahead of us!
Tuesday, 8/25: Point Group at our place in Charlottesville, 6:00 PM (1614 Calvary Circle)
Thursday, 8/27: Point Group at Neil and Christine's in Lynchburg, 6:00 PM (for those in Lynchburg)
Friday, 8/28: Meet at the old Ponderosa parking lot in Charlottesville (Rt. 250) at 6:00 to canvas the area with flyers for Saturday's Block Party. If you're able to be here for this that would be great. At least make plans to attend Saturday.
Saturday, 8/29: Block Party at the old Ponderosa parking lot from 10:30 to 2:30. We will meet there at 9:00 along with those who will be joining us from other churches. Nate will be sending out more info on this! (nate@thepointcville.com)
Sunday, 8/30: First preview service on Sunday night at 6:00 at Calvary Baptist Church (1675 Avon Street Ext)!!! We will meet there at 4:00. I'll send out more info about the preview service tomorrow. This is going to be very scaled back with the idea of improving and adding to the preview services every other week. By our final preview service on Oct. 4th our goal is to have everything running on all cylinders (full band, children's ministry, guest services, ushers, etc.) We're going to have an awesome time!
Thanks for listening to what God is doing in our church. We have been incredibly blessed by His hand and want to continue reaching our community with the love of Jesus!
