January 14, 2009

Dear Friends,

I hope this update finds you having a wonderful start to 2009. It’s my prayer that one of your resolutions for the New Year is to draw closer to the Lord in your personal relationship than you ever have been through prayer, deep Bible study, and service to him. Remember, it brings God joy that we want to spend time with Him and not look at it as a mundane chore.

We had an exciting Sunday at New Life. As usual, the praise band did a wonderful job preparing our hearts to hear the Word of God. After a brief hiatus due to the holidays, we are back in our 1 Corinthians Chapter 7 study on marriage. We talked about how no matter if we are married or single, we should care for the things of the Lord and not the things of this world. God wants to use each of us regardless of our marital status. The marriage that pleases God is the one that has both spouses joyfully serving Him. Never discourage your spouse to serve the Lord. You should be your spouse’s number one fan cheering him/her on when they want to do something for Him. Make sure you are an encouragement, not a stumbling block.

We are truly looking forward to this Sunday. January 18th is Sanctity of Life Sunday. We will be having Stacey Chapman from the Pregnancy Center of Central Virginia sharing with us how we as a church can join in the battle to save the lives of the unborn. God says in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you …” Be sure to be there to learn how you can join in this life changing vision. Also, on Sunday afternoon, we will be joining with Bright Hope Baptist Church from Trevilians for a time of great singing and fellowship. We will have a representative from Jews for Jesus sharing with us during this time. It is perfect for those who have questions about all the happenings and crises in the Middle East. Come find out how Israel is being affected and how God is using Jews, God’s chosen people, to reach the lost. So please plan on having a wonderful lunch and come back to New Life at 3:00 for this wonderful event.

It is our prayer that you have a Blessed week in the Lord and we look forward to seeing you Sunday at New Life.

Pastor Josh
