From the Pastor - Feb 10
Well praise the Lord, it looks like a break in weather and while AWANA is canceled for tonight, we're going to have adult Bible Study and a Valentine's activity for the kids. Everything starts as usual at 6:30 and we hope to see you out. In addition, if you still know of folks who are in need of supplies or a room, etc., let me know. Many from our church have offered their homes for a warm place to stay. Let us know if you know of any needs in your community.
In the meantime, please continue to pray for those to the North of us who are experiencing extreme conditions right now. Pray that their power would not be disrupted. Barring any further weather delays, we hope to be back on schedule this Sunday beginning at 8:30, 9:45 ASCEND, and 11:00.
Cancellations - Feb 9
Due to the weather, men's and women's ministries will be canceled for tonight. It has certainly been an eventful season of cancellations this year so far. Lord-willing, this weekend we will have regular services and get back to some normalcy in our worship. Many thanks to JR Austin and Ernie Johnson for plowing our parking lot so that we could have church real soon. This will allow the sun to hit the parking lot and melt away the snow.
It has been our prayer that during this time of slowing down, that you have had a chance to get deeper into God's Word. Sometimes I wonder if God allows certain things to happen in order to keep us focused or refocus our attention. In addition, I think these times allow for the church to be the church in helping someone who may be less fortunate. I wonder if there is someone around you right now that may need a dose of encouragement. Send them a note or give them a call to see if they need anything.
This week, we lost power and some of you still don't have power. Our house became cold, inactive, and dark without the electricity needed to provide. How true is this when we don't plug into the power of Jesus? Our lives become cold, inactive, and dark. I am thankful that through Jesus, we can stay connected to the power of God in our lives.
Yesterday, Scott Raettig, Mark Racette and myself (picture below) drove around looking for folks who needed help. We packed our shovels, gloves, and went on our way. We eventually ended up at a house that needed shoveling. As we got off the top layers of snow, we got down to the ice and that was much more difficult to pry away. How easy it is in our lives to peel away the outside layers but then when God begins to prick away at the inner layers of selfishness and sin, it becomes much more difficult.
Well we hope to see you on Sunday.

New Life Community Church - Gordonsville Campus
We are please to announce that we have signed a lease on the former Gordonsville Christian Church (314 North Main Street) in Gordonsville, VA. Built in the mid 1800's, this church has been a beacon of hope in this community for many years. Unfortunately, the Gordonsville Christian Church no longer exists and the trustees have been grateful in leasing us this property. Our plan is to extend our ministries into the town of Gordonsville and this location will serve as an additional campus for our church.
